On the morning of August 11, the opening ceremony of the 9th Cross-Strait Primary and Secondary School Students' "Reading the Three Kingdoms" Summer Camp was held at the Wuhan American-Canada Foreign Language School. Ten Taiwanese primary and secondary school students and ten students from American and Canadian foreign schools entered the camp in pairs. In the next week, the children will visit the famous scenic spots in Wuhan together, and will also take the "treasure bag mission" to visit the ancient Longzhong in Xiangyang, visit the Guan Yu Temple in Jingzhou, and visit the ancient battlefield of Chibi, starting the "post-10s" journey of reading the Three Kingdoms.

At the ceremony, the children were very excited. One of the Taiwanese students came to the mainland for the first time and felt everything was new to him. His wish was to "learn about the history and culture of the Three Kingdoms and make more than two friends." He Yanchen, a student from the American and Canadian Foreign School Class 605, who was paired with him, smiled and said, "There is a spot for me!"

The child's father said that the itinerary of this Three Kingdoms tour was very full and the teachers were very attentive. "For example, we arrived yesterday on the Chinese Valentine's Day. After the welcome party in the evening, everyone went to stargaze and felt the joy of meeting each other after thousands of miles. The courses were also very attractive. The children took the task of visiting historical sites and learned traditional and modern courses such as martial arts, tie-dyeing, Chinese studies, Three Kingdoms water model aircraft, Three Kingdoms programming, and Three Kingdoms clothing handicraft. We feel that this is a real study of the Three Kingdoms."

"The stories, characters and cultural elements of the Three Kingdoms period are part of China's excellent traditional culture. The historical and literary works of the Three Kingdoms have also been translated into multiple languages and spread around the world. Hubei has rich historical and cultural relics of the Three Kingdoms. Since 2016, it has joined hands with Taiwan's United Daily News to hold a summer camp to read the Three Kingdoms. We hope that children can read history and understand the culture of the Three Kingdoms with stories. In the process of common learning and communication, they can deeply understand what "benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness, loyalty, filial piety, integrity, shame and courage" are, truly appreciate the truth of "learning from history", establish correct values, and spread China's excellent traditional culture to more people." said Pan Lihua, administrative vice president of the American and Canadian Foreign School.

According to reports, there are more than 20 teachers "escorting" this summer camp, and all the courses are developed by teachers from foreign schools in the United States and Canada. "Even our team formation method is very 'Three Kingdoms': we adopt the competition method of 'Three Kingdoms' and divide the campers into three teams of 'Wei, Shu, and Wu' to visit the ancient battlefields of the Three Kingdoms in Xiangyang, Jingzhou, and Chibi, with the goal of completing the 'task kit' in groups, looking for kits, group discussions, and three teams PK to complete the task." said Huang Shihui, a teacher from the foreign school in the United States and Canada who led the "Wu team".

“Going back to the Three Kingdoms period, the Yangtze River flows east and the waves wash away everything; look at today, heroes have always emerged from youth.” Xiao Yongrui, chairman of Wuhan America and Canada Foreign Language School, said that he hopes that students can learn the excellent traditional Chinese culture in this event, and also show team spirit, strive for the greatest honor for their team, and every child can gain friendship in the summer camp.
