Details about The Witcher 4, codenamed "Polaris," are being closely guarded by CD Projekt Red, but Geralt's voice actor in both the games and the animated series has confirmed that his character will appear in some form.
Actor Doug Cocker reiterated in an interview: "The Witcher 4 has been announced, I can't reveal anything about it," before announcing that "Geralt will be part of the game. We don't know how much, the game will not be centered around Geralt, so it's not about him this time."
Considering that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt concluded the first trilogy with multiple endings, Geralt's reduced role is to be expected, as making a game where all endings are considered canon is nearly impossible. Still, Cocker is looking forward to the final result as much as the rest of us.
He continued: "I'm looking forward to finding out. I want to know! I haven't read any of the scripts yet - and if I had, I couldn't tell you, so I'd be lying, but I haven't... or have I?"
Last December, Coker speculated that his dimension-crossing adopted daughter Ciri could be the sequel's heroine, while being more coy about his own involvement, possibly hinting that he had just learned of Geralt's possible role in the future.
Regardless, we’ve only seen a single logo for the game and a company slide revealing that around 400 developers are working on this massive project, so we may have to wait a while before we hear Geralt’s gravelly voice at the start of the new trilogy.
