This marks another big step towards realizing the dream of relocating more than 300 former employees of the former Municipal Chemical Plant No. 2.

It is reported that the Xiuying District Chemical Plant No. 2 urban renewal project is one of the urban renewal projects that the governments of Haikou City and Xiuying District will focus on in 2023, with a total investment of about 551 million yuan. It is divided into two plots in the South District and the North District, with a total area of ​​about 21.44 acres and a total construction area of ​​about 63,300 square meters. Among them, three 24-26-story residential buildings and a two-story townhouse commercial building will be built in the South District, and a 21-story residential building (including a ground floor commercial building) will be built in the North District.

It is understood that the former Municipal Chemical Plant No. 2 was established in 1956. Due to poor management and serious insolvency, it was declared bankrupt by the Municipal Intermediate People's Court in August 2000. The Xiangrong Road Living Area of ​​the factory was a bungalow built in the 1970s. Due to low construction standards and years of disrepair, the houses generally suffered from mortar powdering and structural damage. The employees living there were eager to update and solve the housing problem. In June 2023, the Xiangrong Road Living Area of ​​the former Municipal Chemical Plant No. 2 was included in the Haikou Urban Renewal Plan. After going through the stages of shantytown renovation and self-renovation, the area also ushered in new opportunities, and the demolition compensation and resettlement of community employees and residents have also been settled.

At that time, Xiuying District organized more than 300 employees to hold a general meeting of all employees and successfully elected 7 employee representatives, of which Bi Choujiu was one of them. "The original house was old, small and in poor condition. Because of this, my son and daughter-in-law could only rent a house with my grandson," he said. It was also for this reason that he was particularly looking forward to this project changing his life.

Xiuying District quickly established a project command center, and in just one month, it completed the signing, allocation and relocation of 129 numbered houses in the living area, achieving a harmonious demolition.

The Jinhua Project Company regularly holds weekly meetings, seizes favorable construction periods, takes comprehensive measures at key nodes, and strictly controls safety, quality, and progress, so that each engineering node runs at an "accelerated" speed. It took nearly a year to ensure the smooth topping-out of the main structure of the resettlement housing.

Bi Choujiu told the Hainan Daily Omnimedia reporter that he lives in Changliu Town, and whenever he encounters an important node, he will ride an electric bike to the site to have a look. "Not only me, but several old colleagues who live nearby often come here." He smiled. Upon learning that the project was capped today, Bi Choujiu could not contain his excitement and arrived at the site an hour and a half in advance. He circled around the passable areas, took a lot of photos and videos, and sent them back to the WeChat group of old employees of Chemical Plant No. 2.

Xiao Juorong, deputy district mayor of Xiuying District and project commander, introduced that the promotion of this project has three meanings: first, it solves the housing difficulties of more than 300 old employees of Chemical Plant No. 2; second, it helps to connect the dead-end roads in the area, such as Wenjin South Road, which is currently under construction and is scheduled to be functionally opened to traffic at the end of October, and improve road facilities and transportation networks; third, it improves the overall urban quality of the Yongwan East area and promotes the high-quality development of the Yongwan East area.

The reporter learned that the project will enter the secondary structure and decoration stage and will be completed, accepted and delivered in October next year.
