China Youth Daily Client News (China Youth Daily, China Youth Network reporter Li Yuanyuan) "During our trip to Djibouti, we used folk art to transcend language, region and culture; we connected with each other's hearts to understand different nationalities and experience exotic customs." At the Youth Entrepreneurship Sub-Forum of the China-Africa Folk Forum held recently, Wang Jing, a doctoral student at Yangzhou Vocational University, shared a story of the connection between the hearts of the Chinese and African people.
2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Djibouti. At the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Djibouti, a group of 14 people from Yangzhou Heyun Art Troupe went to Djibouti, Africa from February 1 to 5, 2024 for a five-day friendly exchange, promoting cultural exchanges and people-to-people exchanges between China and Djibouti.
It is reported that Djibouti and Yangzhou became connected in 2021. That year, at the invitation of the World Canal Historical and Cultural Cities Cooperation Organization, Djibouti not only participated in the Yangzhou World Horticultural Exposition, but also led the Ethiopian Pavilion to be simultaneously settled in the Djibouti Garden of the Garden Expo. The Djibouti Garden is the result of the profound friendship between China and Djibouti. It can allow Chinese tourists to more intuitively understand the cultural charm of Djibouti and provide them with a unique perspective to understand African culture.
The Yangzhou Heyun Art Troupe is a private non-enterprise unit, which aims to serve the cultural life and development of the people in the world's canal cities, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with canal cities at home and abroad with culture and art as a link, and give full play to the role of non-governmental organizations. The art troupe's visit to Djibouti for exchanges is a continuation of the "fate" between Yangzhou and Djibouti.
"During the rehearsal, we saw Djibouti artists specially create songs and dances to celebrate the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, repeatedly singing the eternal friendship between Djibouti and China!" Wang Jing said that in the "Cultural Mutual Learning, Everlasting Friendship" - the art performance celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Djibouti, the performances presented by Chinese and Djibouti artists were brilliant. Yangzhou puppets, Chinese pipa, Yangzhou Qingqu, Chinese calligraphy, African hand drums and Djibouti dances competed on the same stage, crossing cultural dialogues, which were widely praised by the audience and the atmosphere was warm.

Wang Jing said that during this visit to Djibouti, Yangzhou Heyun Art Troupe has achieved a number of cooperative results: entrepreneurs have reached cooperation intentions with enterprises in the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone, and a number of cooperation projects are progressing steadily; Yangzhou Vocational University and Africa's Datulu Special Economic Zone have reached an intention to jointly build the "Zheng He College". "The resonance of art is everyone's love for their respective motherlands, their adherence to peace and friendship, and their expectation for a community with a shared future for mankind where 'each one has his own beauty and all the beauty is shared'." Wang Jing said that she believes that in the future more and more young people will join in people-to-people exchanges and push China-Africa relations to a new level.
