Mr. Tsung-Dao Lee, a world-renowned physicist, Nobel Prize winner, and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, passed away at his home in San Francisco, the United States, in the early morning of August 4, 2024, local time, at the age of 97. Mr. Lee was one of the greatest physicists of the 20th century, who worked tirelessly for the development of his motherland and made outstanding contributions.

A reporter from The Paper learned from the organizing committee of the memorial service for Mr. Tsung-Dao Lee that in order to commemorate Mr. Lee's great contributions to the country's high-energy physics cause, Chinese high-energy physics colleagues in Beijing will hold a "Memorial Service for Mr. Tsung-Dao Lee" from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on August 11, 2024 at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Main Building B, No. 19, Yuquan Road, Shijingshan District, Beijing). People from all walks of life are sincerely invited to attend and commemorate the brilliant achievements of this scientific giant and his scientific spirit of indifference to fame and fortune and perseverance.

The event was jointly organized by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Beijing Center for Modern Physics Research, the Center for High Energy Physics of Peking University, the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Advanced Science and Technology Center, and the High Energy Physics Branch of the Chinese Physical Society.

In addition, the "Memorial Service for Mr. Tsung-Dao Lee" will be held in Shanghai on the morning of August 25, 2024 (Sunday). The memorial service is jointly organized by the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Tsung-Dao Lee Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the China Center for Advanced Science and Technology, and the Chinese Physical Society. At that time, the Institute of High Energy Physics and the China Center for Advanced Science and Technology will set up a branch venue in the lecture hall of the Institute of High Energy Physics.
