There's a good chance that Remedy Entertainment's next big single-player game will be a combined remake of the first two Max Payne games. Last October, the Finnish studio announced that the project had entered pre-production and would enter the next phase of development in 2024 - something Remedy says has now happened.

In its most recent quarterly financial report, Remedy Entertainment revealed that the Max Payne 1+2 remake is now in full production, with the development team working to bring the third-person shooter to an "early operational state across the entire gameplay pipeline." It's unclear how long this development phase will take, but it can be assumed that the next major milestone for the project will be "release," although that may be a long time away.

Sam Lake, creative director at Remedy Entertainment, has previously described the Max Payne 1+2 remake as "a major undertaking" with the goal of bringing both titles "up to modern standards and combining them into one". The project will be fully funded and published by Rockstar Games, the owner of the IP, with a budget similar to that of Alan Wake 2.
