Bi Yiming is currently the captain of the third squadron of the patrol special police brigade of Huantai County Public Security Bureau. He served in the army for 10 years and in the police for 16 years.
"Although many years have passed, I have maintained the habits I developed in the army. When encountering problems, I must rush to the front and get things done as quickly and with the highest quality." Looking at one certificate of honor after another, Bi Yiming, the squadron leader of the third squadron of the patrol special police brigade of Huantai County Public Security Bureau, said this.
Bi Yiming joined the army at the age of 19. His 10-year military career left a mark on his life, making him like a nail, deeply rooted and firmly established in every position.
He took off his olive green uniform and put on police blue. What changed was the color of his uniform, but his original intention remained unchanged. He still charged forward without retreating a single step, turning his passion for serving the country into actions to protect the safety and happiness of the people day after day, continuing the military spirit of Chinese soldiers and fulfilling the mission and responsibility of the people's police.
In 2008, Bi Yiming took off his military uniform, put on a police uniform, and came to Huantai County Public Security Bureau. Facing a new position, Bi Yiming did not back down. "I have developed a strong sense of reconnaissance and the ability to fight alone and in a team in the armed police force. These skills and qualities can be used in police work. My patriotic feelings can be placed in protecting the people..."
Once, a man in the area had hallucinations due to drug overdose. He took out a shovel from his home and chopped everything he saw. Bi Yiming and his comrades evacuated the crowd in time and controlled the man in a narrow alley. Facing the waving shovel, Bi Yiming approached the man step by step with a shield for protection and quickly blocked the shovel in the man's hand with the shield. Unexpectedly, the man grabbed a few steel bars and hit the shield violently. The skilled and courageous Bi Yiming let the man hit him without retreating. He seized the opportunity and subdued the man with his grappling and fighting skills, defusing the crisis.
Maintaining stability, counter-terrorism, dealing with emergencies, criminals holding hostages with knives, mentally ill patients who have lost their minds... Bi Yiming has faced all of these and dealt with them all successfully.
"You only have one chance. Watch my instructions and follow me." Bi Yiming, who was standing at the door, gestured to the team members.
This was a scene when handling a police incident in February last year. At that time, Huantai police received a call that a man was waving a kitchen knife and might hurt someone at any time. The man was burly, holding a kitchen knife, hiding behind the kitchen door, waving it from time to time. Bi Yiming led his team members to maintain a battle formation and approach, distracting the man while making gestures to deploy a plan. In a flash, Bi Yiming controlled the man.
This kind of moment is not the first time in Bi Yiming's police career.
People who have served in the military have a strong sense of mission and responsibility. Since the day when they took off their olive green uniforms and put on navy blue, Bi Yiming and countless other police officers have taken on the important task of maintaining stability and dealing with emergencies, and protecting the peace of the area. "I cannot retreat, because behind me are the people I want to protect," he said.
"Use me in the first battle, and I will win." This was Bi Yiming's solemn oath when he was a soldier, and also his promise when he joined the police. From 10 years in the military camp to 16 years in the police camp, he has fulfilled the same promise in different positions. He has honed his strong will in the complicated work, fully demonstrated the demeanor of an excellent military-to-civilian cadre, and also inspired and infected every comrade around him to contribute to keeping the area safe.
