On the stage of the "Singer 2024" peak night which just ended on August 2, the Shanren Band from Miaomu Records represented Yunnan and brought a wonderful performance.
The Shanren Band's live performance of "Up and Down the Mountain" combined "Outlaws of the Marsh" with a strong ethnic style, fully displaying the unrestrained heroic spirit and the profound traditional Chinese cultural heritage. It not only had the lively rhythm of folk music, but also the magnificent scenery of the vast mountains and rivers and the atmosphere of people's lives, making people feel as if they were surrounded by green mountains and clear waters.
Shanren Band - Finding ways to connect local traditional tunes with the world
Shanren Band was founded in Yunnan, and its members include Han, Yi, Hani and a British person who can speak Yunnanese. They are deeply influenced by Yunnan’s ethnic culture and have been focusing on the exploration, inheritance and innovation of Yunnan’s ethnic folk music. They have integrated Yunnan’s ethnic instruments and folk tunes with modern music elements, showing a unique musical charm.
In the 24 years since its establishment, Shanren Band has performed in more than 40 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, France, Spain, Canada, Italy, Slovenia, Ecuador, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, bringing Yunnan's folk tunes and culture to the world stage and becoming one of China's most representative international folk rock bands.
In 2016, Shanren Band won the national championship of CCTV's large-scale variety show "Sing My Song Season 3". In 2023, it participated in the recording of "China in Intangible Cultural Heritage (Yunnan)" of China Central Radio and Television, integrating the ancient Yi epic Mei Ge with international music, which played an important role in the innovation and dissemination of Yunnan's ethnic folk music.
Over the years, the mountain people have never stopped. They put their ears close to the green mountains and waters of Yunnan, looking for and exploring the beautiful sounds from the mountains and land of Yunnan, and presenting the ancient music to the world in a more contemporary way.
As one of the musicians featured in Yunnan Satellite TV's documentary series "Yunnan Folk Songs Going to the World", Shanren Band will also represent Yunnan in the special ethnic music exchange program "Enjoy It" directed by the Publicity Department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and the Publicity Department of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and produced and broadcast by Hunan Satellite TV. Together with international musicians and Chinese folk musicians, they will present wonderful stage performances, and through interactions, exchanges, and integration between different nationalities and cultures, show the world the beauty of the integration of the Chinese nation.
This Friday night at 20:00, let us join the Shanren Band in letting the national melody resound throughout the world, and sing to the world with fusion music!
