Yunnan Stone Forest is world-renowned for its unique geological scientific value. Among the limited number of stone forests found around the world, Yunnan Stone Forest is not only typical, representative and unique for its vast area, diverse types, peculiar shapes, complex causes and long history of development, but also has high scientific research and popular science value. It is the only karst landform area in the world that can show the history of earth evolution with stone forest development relics and stone forest landscape series. Some foreign experts and scholars suggested using the term "Stone Forest" to refer to karst landforms similar to Yunnan Stone Forest. This proposal has been generally recognized, and Stone Forest has been recorded in the history of world natural science as a geological term.
