European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was re-elected and stepped up containment of China. 26 of the 27 countries agreed with this, but only one country was ignorant. So who is this "thorn"? Why did they do this?

As we all know, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is a thoroughgoing "pro-American" person. Some analysts believe that von der Leyen is labeled as a "China hawk". Some of her remarks and actions may be influenced by the United States or are to cooperate with the strategic interests of the United States. In her last term, she followed the example of the United States in imposing high tariffs on new energy vehicles exported from China to the EU, which sharply reduced the market advantage of Chinese companies in the EU, further exacerbating the tension in bilateral relations. At the same time, the differences within the EU are becoming increasingly obvious.

On the other hand, she made some inappropriate remarks on issues related to Taiwan, interfering in China's internal affairs. This behavior not only exposed her poor personal political character, but also seriously did not match her status and responsibilities. Just after taking office this year, she fired three shots at China, and the China policy she proposed has brought challenges to China-EU relations.

According to the Global Times, the first policy that von der Leyen pushed for was to raise tariffs on biofuels exported from China to the EU, up to 36.4%; the second policy was to impose anti-dumping duties on erythritol, a sweetener exported from China to the EU, with tariffs as high as more than 200%. The third policy was to review EU companies' investments in China.
