Beijing News (Reporter Xu Bangyin) In the early morning of August 8, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games synchronized swimming team event ended. The Chinese team composed of Chang Hao, Feng Yu, Wang Ciyue, Wang Liuyi, Wang Qianyi, Xiang Yinxuan, Xiao Yanning and Zhang Yayi won the championship with 996.1389 points, winning the first gold medal in the history of Chinese synchronized swimming in the Olympics.
At almost the same time, in the multi-purpose hall of the swimming pool of Beijing Muxiyuan Sports School, more than 30 athletes of the Beijing synchronized swimming team witnessed this historic moment in front of the big screen.
Among the eight players on the Chinese synchronized swimming team that won the championship, Chang Hao, Feng Yu and substitute Cheng Wentao are all from the Beijing synchronized swimming team. Chang Hao joined the Beijing team in March 2007, and Cheng Wentao and Feng Yu followed in 2008. While growing and improving in the Beijing team, they gradually became the backbone of the Chinese team and won glory for the country in world competitions.
When the Chinese team won the championship, the young players of the Beijing team waved the national flag to celebrate. Zhang Jun, principal of Beijing Muxiyuan Sports and Technical School, who was watching the game on the big screen, also burst into tears.
Zhang Jun revealed that the Beijing team's collective viewing was organized spontaneously by the team members. "Among the eight players on the Chinese synchronized swimming team, two are from Beijing, the head coach is from Beijing, and there is another substitute. Athletes from Beijing and outstanding athletes from brother provinces and cities across the country gathered together to win glory for the country. This is a beautiful night, so everyone came here voluntarily to cheer for the fighters on the front line."

Shang Fei, a member of the Beijing team, also shed tears. She was Feng Yu and Chang Hao's roommate in the Beijing team. Seeing her good sisters win the championship in the Paris Olympics, Shang Fei said emotionally: "I want to say thank you for their hard work."
Shang Fei said that synchronized swimming group events require the cooperation of many people, and the training time is very long, about 8 hours a day. Everyone needs to keep running in. Not only does the breath-holding time take a long time, but the leg movements are also more difficult, so the intensity is very high. "It is not easy for them to survive such a training intensity. They deserve this gold medal."
