He had guarded the island for ten years and was a recognized "sharpshooter" in the army. He was proficient in the operation of various light weapons, from pistols, rifles to sniper rifles... Later, he took off his "camouflage green" and put on "urban management blue", joined the Liwan District Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, became an urban management law enforcement officer, and continued to be a "safety guard" to protect the citizens.
"I want to enrich my life and take a different path." This is Wen Shuyong's original passion and his philosophy of life. After graduating from the National Defense Student Program in 2008, Wen Shuyong joined the army and settled in Nan'ao Island, Shantou, the "outpost of eastern Guangdong". He spent nearly 10 years of his youth fulfilling the oath and commitment of a soldier guarding the island in the coastal defense company. In 2017, he transferred to the Liwan District Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau and started a new journey in life.

From a "sharpshooter" to a "city management officer", he always adheres to the awareness of standards
In the coastal defense infantry combat company, Wen Shuyong experienced various "hardcore" trainings, such as armed ten-kilometer cross-country running, armed swimming, four hundred-meter obstacle course and other training subjects.
He also stood guard in a tent halfway up the mountain, climbing to capture prisoners, shooting and throwing bombs in simulated combat. Not only that, Wen Shuyong is also familiar with the operation of light weapons including pistols, heavy machine guns, and sniper rifles, and was awarded the honor of "sharpshooter" in the pistol group. This experience marked his life with a "standard consciousness".
"My experience in the army will influence my whole life. I learned from the training what standards are. Getting things done is one thing, but doing them well is another. In the army, some jobs are simple and repetitive, such as sweeping the floor and practicing weapons. But the requirement for soldiers is to practice and execute simple tasks thousands of times until they are done very well." This pursuit of excellence was deeply imprinted on Wen Shuyong, setting an invisible standard for his words and deeds in his future work.

When Wen Shuyong came to Liwan Urban Management in 2017, he was initially responsible for the enforcement of construction waste, but various laws and regulations became a difficult problem for him. "I must learn and understand them myself before I can guide the street to enforce the law." In the first few years after his transfer, Wen Shuyong spent a lot of time studying laws and regulations, and at the same time asked senior colleagues in the unit for advice. This "standard consciousness" that he always adhered to has also become the most memorable trait of Wen Shuyong in his work in urban management. In the eyes of his colleagues, Wen Shuyong has a clear military style. "He is always the first to arrive at the office in the morning and the last to leave in the evening. He must also prepare for the organization of activities in advance and never let people wait."
He changed his identity but remained true to his original intention. He is the security guardian of the masses.
During his work at Liwan Urban Management, Wen Shuyong was successively responsible for construction and waste law enforcement and gas safety work. He always upheld his original intention of helping the people.
"Since the year I changed my job, I have been accepting a new position with the mentality of starting from scratch. However, the identity and specific content of my job can change, but the ideological quality and original intention cannot change." Today, Wen Shuyong, as the head of the Safety Production and Gas Management Section, shoulders heavy responsibilities, from the residents of a building to all residents in the jurisdiction. "The purpose of our gas work is to enable everyone to use gas safely and conveniently."

In order to improve citizens' knowledge of safe gas use, he took the lead in connecting with enterprises to build Liwan District's first interactive training base with the theme of gas safety publicity, helping residents in the area understand the common sense of safe gas use and cultivate awareness and skills of safe gas use.
In order to identify safety hazards for users, he actively coordinated and promoted the gas construction and installation projects in old buildings such as Wen'an Huayuan Building, Jindao Huayuan Teachers' Building in Baihedong Street, and Mingguiyuan; promoted the gas pipeline renewal and renovation projects in Liwan Plaza and Longjin Building, and worked hard to solve practical difficulties for residents.
Talking about these tasks, Wen Shuyong said: "Now what makes me happiest is seeing a new pipeline laid in a community or seeing the people in a building using safe and cheap gas. I am really happy. Although this work is only part of all my work, it is the closest to the people and can actually solve their problems, which makes me feel very worthwhile."
