According to the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, in the second quarter of this year, 3,432 housing construction and municipal engineering projects were underway in 16 districts of the city and the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, including 2,802 housing construction projects, 16,573 units, and an area of ​​126.926 million square meters under construction; 630 municipal infrastructure projects, 5,156 units. Among the housing construction projects, there were 258 affordable housing projects, involving 3,519 units; 263 old residential area renovation projects, involving 2,109 units; 609 public construction projects, involving 3,329 units; and 225 commercial housing projects, involving 3,549 units.

It is understood that the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission has made every effort to complete this year's renovation tasks. This year, 300 old residential communities have been newly started and 200 have been completed for comprehensive renovation, and 1,000 old buildings have been newly started and 600 have been completed for installation of elevators. This year's renovation of old residential communities will focus on implementing basic renovations, actively promote improvement renovations, coordinate upgrading renovations, actively and orderly promote the renovation of old residential communities, and realize new models, new mechanisms, and new appearances for the renovation of old residential communities.

In order to further strengthen and standardize the safety and quality supervision of housing construction and municipal infrastructure construction projects in the city, the city carried out safety and quality assessments of ongoing housing construction and municipal engineering projects and the construction of smart construction sites in the second quarter of 2024. The results showed that in the second quarter, Huairou District, Xicheng District, Shijingshan District, Dongcheng District, and Fangshan District carried out the assessment work well overall. The supervisory departments of each district logged into the risk classification and control platform to carry out safety and quality assessments in Changping District, Huairou District, and Dongcheng District. Changping District assessed 16 projects in the district, Huairou District assessed 4 projects in the district, and Dongcheng District assessed 1 project in the district.

At present, the city's construction industry is accelerating its transformation and upgrading. In the major projects under construction in Beijing in 2023, the application of a large number of intelligent construction "black technologies" not only eliminates common safety hazards on the construction site, improves the quality of the project and the quality of the building, but also provides "acceleration" for the rapid advancement of the project. According to statistics from the Beijing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, as of the end of October last year, more than 1,600 projects in the city had implemented smart construction site practices, accounting for more than 50% of the city's ongoing projects. In the second quarter of this year, a total of 1,526 projects in the city implemented smart construction site practices, including 1,225 housing construction projects and 301 municipal projects.

In the second quarter, a total of 263 old residential area renovation projects in the city were included in the dynamic evaluation scope, and 238 projects carried out safety and quality assessment work, accounting for 90.5%, an increase of 20 percentage points from the previous quarter.
