From blank to leading: the magnificent transformation of communication technology in 25 years

On July 26, 1999, Guangxi Mobile Communications Company was established at No. 249 Wangzhou Road, Nanning City, and started its independent operation in Guangxi. Starting from the initial 1,358 base stations and nearly 33,000 channels, the company achieved a leap from 660,000 customers to 2 million in just two years; in just five years, it created a miracle of over 10 million customers; 25 years have passed, and it has won the trust of more than 33 million customers in Guangxi.

In 2009, Guangxi's first domestically produced 3G base station was built, and the first batch of high-quality regional G3 networks were officially put into commercial use. China Mobile Guangxi Company entered the 3G breakthrough era.

In 2013, the company took the lead in launching large-scale 4G network construction in Guangxi, starting the "4G parallel running" stage, and ushered in an opportunity period of rapid development.

In 2015, users' traffic usage reached more than 100TB, and Guangxi entered the era of "universal traffic".

In 2019, the first 5G call was made, 5G was officially put into commercial use, and Guangxi officially entered the new 5G era.

In 2020, the upgrades to gigabit 5G, gigabit broadband, gigabit WiFi, gigabit applications, and gigabit services will be completed, and the “full gigabit” era has arrived.

By 2023, the district’s first new AI computing service center based on large model technology will be built.

In 2024, 5G-A construction will be promoted throughout Guangxi to help the development of low-altitude economy and other fields.

Laying a solid foundation, digital infrastructure develops by leaps and bounds：For 25 years, China Mobile Guangxi Company has continued to build high-quality boutique networks and mobile Internet of Things, and has built a total of 69,000 5G base stations, not only achieving continuous coverage of townships and above, but also extending the network tentacles to border ports, border trade points and every administrative village, achieving 100% coverage of administrative villages. At the same time, we will thoroughly implement the strategic deployment of the "Belt and Road" initiative, closely focus on the "one district, two places, one park and one channel" strategy of the Party Committee and Government of the Autonomous Region, accelerate the creation of an important part of the convenient place for domestic and international dual circulation market operations, promote the construction of the Nanning International Communications Business Entry and Exit Bureau, and continuously inject new impetus into promoting cooperation with ASEAN. A number of new facilities such as data centers, cloud computing centers, and content distribution networks provide world-leading basic network support for the construction of Digital Guangxi.

Broadband strengthens the foundation and builds a new all-optical network ecosystem: Strengthen the foundation with broadband construction and vigorously build a gigabit-led broadband all-optical network. At present, China Mobile Guangxi Company's mobile broadband has covered 176,000 natural villages in the region, the home broadband household coverage rate has reached 98.8%, and the number of households covered by the gigabit optical network has exceeded 23 million.

5G-A empowers and leads the development of low-altitude economy:2024 is the first year of 5G-A development. China Mobile Guangxi Company seizes the opportunity of 5G-A development and turns its attention to cutting-edge fields such as low-altitude economy, low-altitude security, water area monitoring and border security. It actively deploys and opens hundreds of 5G-A 3CC sites to provide stronger support for Guangxi's digital transformation.

Over the past 25 years, China Mobile Guangxi has kept pace with digital transformation and actively expanded new areas, new applications, and new formats of information services. In 18 industries such as steel, energy, agriculture, medical care, and finance, more than 1,200 5G vertical industry benchmark applications have been implemented, enabling the deep integration of digital industrialization and industrial digitalization in the entire region.

In the manufacturing industry, the "5G Smart Factory Project" jointly created by China Mobile Guangxi Company and Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group has set a new benchmark in the industry.

In the field of smart ports and smart oceans, China Mobile Guangxi Company uses 5G technology to realize automated tallying and remote control for Qinzhou Port, and improves the quality and efficiency of key ports such as Longbang Port. China Mobile Guangxi Company uses multi-band 5G technology to cover the Beibu Gulf, build a "5G+Beidou" precise positioning network, empower major projects such as offshore wind power and Pinglu Canal, and ensure stable maritime communications. It works with the Institute of Oceanography to promote the transformation of smart oceans and fisheries, build a 5G smart breeding and fishing port management platform, promote the automation and intelligent upgrading of fisheries, and inject new vitality into regional economic development.

In the field of rural revitalization, China Mobile Guangxi Company has built 34 demonstration sites, and promoted the modernization of rural governance through a series of digital rural pilot projects such as the Guigang Qintang selenium-rich rice adoption project, Laibin's "5G+Digital Village" comprehensive service cloud platform, One Village Rural Revitalization Project, and Liuzhou's "5G+Digital Village" rice smart planting capacity improvement demonstration area project.

25 years of perseverance, practicing corporate social responsibility, and serving the people

Over the past 25 years, China Mobile Guangxi Company has adhered to the concept of putting people first, actively fulfilled its social responsibilities, and improved service quality. It has achieved remarkable results in the fields of aging-friendly, water resources management, green development, and network security. A special leading group was established to ensure communications for major events such as the China-ASEAN Expo, optimize and upgrade heart-level services, and innovatively launch aging-friendly services, demonstrating the responsibility and warmth of the company. The "Hechangtong" smart water management platform was launched to help water resources management. At the same time, the construction of new energy base stations was vigorously promoted to achieve green and low-carbon communication network coverage. Criminal acts such as telecommunications network fraud were strictly cracked down to build a safe and reliable network environment for the people. Long-distance charges and roaming charges for mobile phones were cancelled, and Internet dedicated lines, home broadband, and international communication charges were lowered.
