Resident Evil is a third-person fixed-perspective horror action-puzzle adventure game originally released by Capcom in Japan on March 22, 1996. It is the first game in the Resident Evil series. The game was originally scheduled to be dubbed in Japanese, but because the director Shinji Mikami thought that Westerners would find it strange to speak Japanese, and the Japanese voice actors at the time were not good enough in the game, only an English dubbing version was produced.
