【Pacific Technology News】At the 2024 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced that its AI system, Apple Intelligence, will first support US English, and plans to add support for more languages in the next year. Since languages other than US English are not supported in the early stages, users in China and the European Union are currently unable to try out the AI features of Apple Intelligence. Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed in an earnings call that Apple is working with regulators in Europe and China to ensure that Apple Intelligence services meet the regulatory requirements of local markets and develop a corresponding timetable.

Cook said that Apple has reallocated a large number of people working on other projects to the field of AI, and at the same time used its own data centers and external cooperative resources to promote the development of AI technology. The company will increase its investment in the development of Apple Intelligence and plans to complete the integration of ChatGPT and Siri by the end of this year.

Although only US English is currently supported, users can still preview the new features of Apple Intelligence by switching the language and region settings. Cook said that due to privacy and security considerations, some features of Apple Intelligence will be blocked in the European Union. Apple Intelligence is scheduled to be launched this fall, and more features and languages will be gradually added over the next year.

Apple Intelligence will be provided free of charge with the updates of iOS 18 and macOS 15, but will only be available on Apple devices equipped with the latest chips. However, Cook did not specify whether the new features and language support will be launched with the iOS 18 update in the second half of this year or the iOS 19 update in the fall of 2025.
