While EA's Madden series dominates the American football space, other companies have tried their hand at developing games for the sport in recent years. Earlier this year, 2K launched NFL 2K Playmakers, a mobile game that's more focused on collecting cards, and now Ubisoft has joined EA in the fray.

Ubisoft announced that it will launch its new NFL game, but it is not the traditional American football game that everyone expected. Ubisoft said that "NFL Primetime Fantasy" aims to subvert the traditional fantasy football gameplay and bring a brand new experience to players.

Ubisoft calls NFL Primetime Fantasy a "real-time fantasy sports competition" where players can make real-time decisions in real NFL games that directly affect their fantasy points. This means that players can activate various boosts during the game, for example, when the Philadelphia Eagles enter the red zone, players can activate a touchdown boost for quarterback Jalen Hurts. If Hurts successfully scores, the player's final score for the week will be increased.

NFL Primetime Fantasy is expected to be released later this year.
