Earlier reports said that Samsung will maintain a dual-platform strategy for the Galaxy S25 series, offering the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8 and Exynos 2500 versions. However, it was later reported that the yield rate of Exynos 2500 was "lower than expected", at only 20%. Samsung hopes that after hard work, the yield rate of Exynos 2500 will be increased to 60% by October this year, meeting the mass production standard.

Recently, Samsung released its second-quarter 2024 financial report, stating that the initial response to its new wearable device SoC using the industry's first 3nm technology has been good, and it is expected that the adoption of SoCs using this technology by major customers will expand in the second half of this year. It also plans to ensure a stable supply of the flagship model Exynos 2500.

Exynos 2500 uses Samsung's second-generation 3nm process technology, namely SF3, and is also its first smartphone SoC manufactured using this process. According to official statements, compared with the previous 4nm FinFET process, energy efficiency and density have been improved by 20% to 30%. At the same time, it is likely to choose to apply fan-out wafer-level packaging (FoWLP), just like Exynos 2400, which not only reduces the size of the package, but also better controls the heat generation of the chip to provide stronger multi-core performance and extend the battery life of the device.

Samsung tried to dispel the concerns of users, investors and potential customers about its 3nm process node in its financial report, but still did not provide specific production information. Combined with the previous news of using MediaTek SoC for testing, it seems that in order to maintain pricing and profit margins, Samsung is really unwilling to choose the strategy of exclusive Qualcomm chips for next year's Galaxy S25 series.
