The 10th Conference of the Capital Cities of the Yangtze River Middle Reaches Urban Agglomeration

In February 2013, the first consultation meeting of the provincial capital cities in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration was held, and Wuhan, Changsha, Hefei and Nanchang jointly signed the "Wuhan Consensus".Since then, the consultation meeting has been held annually unless under special circumstances, with Wuhan, Changsha, Hefei and Nanchang taking turns hosting it.

Over the past 10 years, the consultation council has signed the Wuhan Consensus, Changsha Declaration, Hefei Outline, Nanchang Action and so on.

Zhengzhijun noticed thatThis consultation meeting was held offline again after more than three years.Previously, the 8th Conference was held in Nanchang in December 2020, and the 9th Conference was held online in February 2023.

This year's consultation meeting mentioned that since the first consultation in 2013, the strategic position of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has continued to improve, with steady progress and year-on-year progress, and has yielded fruitful results.

Data shows that in 2013, the total economic output of the four cities was 2,421.34 billion yuan; in 2023, the total economic output of the four cities increased to 5,423.028 billion yuan, more than doubling.

Zhengzhijun noticed thatThe National 14th Five-Year Plan clearly proposes to promote the coordinated development of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and create an important growth pole in the country. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to build a coordinated development pattern of large, medium and small cities based on urban agglomerations and metropolitan areas.

Wuhan, Changsha, Hefei and Nanchang are the leaders of the strong circle-led cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. This "cluster" has continued to grow and develop in the past few years.Starting from 2017, each of the four provincial capitals will invite a prefecture-level city in the province to attend the conference as an observer city.

The 10th Consultation Meeting of Provincial Capital Cities in the Middle Yangtze River Urban Agglomeration was held this time, with the participation of 12 observer cities including Huangshi, Yueyang, Anqing, Jiujiang, Huanggang, Zhuzhou, Tongling, Fuzhou, Xianning, Xiangtan, Lu'an and Yichun.

The Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to regional coordinated development.

The urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is an important part of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and a key area for promoting the rise of the central region.

The "Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Comprehensively Deepening Reforms and Promoting Chinese-style Modernization" reviewed and adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed to improve the system and mechanism for developing new quality productive forces in accordance with local conditions, improve the regional integrated development mechanism, and build a new mechanism for cross-administrative region cooperative development.
