IT Home reported on July 31 that Meta has shut down its previously high-profile celebrity AI chatbot feature, according to The Information. These chatbots allowed users to have conversations with AI that mimicked celebrity personalities and were one of the highlights of the Meta Connect conference last September.

IT Home noticed that Meta launched AI Studio on Monday, a tool that allows American creators to build their own AI chatbots. According to Meta’s official statement,The company seems to prefer this user-created approach rather than the carefully crafted celebrity robots it has created before.

Meta spokeswoman Liz Sweeney said users will no longer be able to interact with AI characters based on celebrities. The company has learned a lot from developing these robots and Meta AI, and how people use AI to connect and create.AI Studio is an evolution of this direction, providing space for everyone, including individuals, creators and celebrities, to create their own AI.

Initially, Meta launched AI chatbots for celebrities including Charli D'Amelio, Dwyane Wade, Paris Hilton, and planned to add more, such as Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, and Josh Richards. But Meta reportedly did not implement this plan. Earlier, it was reported that Meta had paid millions of dollars to some celebrities for their image rights.

Although the celebrity AI chatbot may not have lived up to Meta’s expectations,But the company remains confident about the prospects of AI chatbotsCEO Zuckerberg has repeatedly expressed his optimism about chatbots, and Meta AI assistants have been integrated into platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.
