This is a minimalist townhouse located in Brooklyn, New York. The design features reclaimed wide-plank wood floors, textured walls, and minimal architectural accents, allowing the family to weave their personal stories into the space. Inspired by the warmth of a French farmhouse and New York’s historic Art Deco motifs, vintage heirlooms are seamlessly blended with handcrafted furniture and eclectic details. The comprehensive renovation includes all three floors, a courtyard, and an outbuilding. The upstairs is reminiscent of a European country house, while the downstairs conveys the sophisticated charm of a vintage New York hotel lobby. Exposed wood beams highlight the craftsmanship and history of the building.

Outdoor areas include a terrace and outbuilding with a screening room, hot tub and custom pizza oven to enhance family gatherings. At the client’s request, the designers created two kitchens – an entertainment kitchen on the ground floor with ceramic lighting, Lacanche range, stone counters and steel and glass glazing. The first floor features three lounge areas surrounding the wood-burning stove, with furniture such as Camaleonda sofas, Kropacek armchairs, Gae Aulenti 54-S1 chairs, copper Drummonds bathtub and Tapiovaara dining chairs to enhance comfort. Custom design features are used throughout, including travertine and lacquered coffee tables, walnut and linen floor lamps, curved concrete walls around the wood stove and lacquered wall units.
