IT Home reported on July 22 that the Android version of the Blackmagic Camera application was launched in June this year. The first batch is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra or S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra and Google Pixel 7, 7a, 7 Pro, 8 and 8 Pro mobile phones.

Today, Blackmagic Design officially announced the release of the Blackmagic Camera Android version 1.1 update (), adding support for more Android phones.Including Xiaomi 13 and 14, OnePlus 11 and 12, Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22, Google Pixel 6, 6 Pro and 6a

This version adds support for HDMI monitoring, allowing users to view what they are shooting on a larger screen, helping to check shot focus, exposure and composition, and even use multiple monitors so everyone on the set can review the recording.

This update also adds focus control for the camera, so that users can change the focus point of the lens during continuous shooting. This can gradually pull the focus between 3 preset focus points in the foreground or background, thus drawing the viewer's attention to different elements of the picture and shifting the emphasis of the scene.

This software update also supports syncing media directly to Blackmagic Cloud Organizations accounts, allowing customers to choose when logging in to sync media to their personal account or their company’s Organizations account, speeding up workflow.

With the upgrade, users can dim the screen during recording, apply noise reduction or sharpening to recorded images, and use 3D LUTs during recording and monitoring.

The Blackmagic Camera app uses the same interface as Blackmagic Design cameras, providing users with the same control experience as professional digital film cameras. Customers can adjust settings such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance and ISO in the app, and can also record directly to Blackmagic Cloud using industry standard file formats, up to 8K.

IT Home noticed that the application was launched for Apple iPhone in September last year and the Android version was launched in June this year.
