Except for the large class children who will normally enter the first grade, most of the children have already expressed their intention to go to kindergarten, and the remaining small number are still under consideration. There are sufficient places in the surrounding private kindergartens, and the education department is guiding parents to find places in an orderly manner. At present, the kindergarten has signed labor contract termination agreements with 24 faculty and staff and issued relevant compensation.

The school was still enrolling students last month but suddenly stopped in July

In early July, parents of Xiangli Shangcheng Kindergarten in Fenggang, Dongguan reported on social media that the kindergarten suddenly and hastily informed parents that it would cease operations that month. Neither the kindergarten nor the education authorities notified parents in advance, leaving parents unprepared and at a loss as to how to arrange for their children to continue attending the kindergarten.

Nandu reporter noticed that in June this year, Fenggang Xiangli Shangcheng Kindergarten's social platform account still told the commenters that it was currently recruiting students. It is reported that Fenggang Xiangli Shangcheng Kindergarten is a private kindergarten that opened in July 2016. The kindergarten building is a supporting building in the rental community, and the enrollment targets are preschool children in Xiangli Shangcheng residential area and surrounding areas.

On July 18, a reporter from Southern Metropolis Daily called Fenggang Xiangli Shangcheng Kindergarten in the name of a parent who wanted to enroll children in the kindergarten to inquire about the current situation. The staff said, "We are undergoing renovations, so we will not open this year. We will reopen in September next year. If we enroll students, we will start enrolling in April or May next year." The staff also said that this is the current plan, but there is no guarantee that the kindergarten will definitely enroll students and open at that time.

The education department said it has diverted students and teaching staff

In response to this issue, the Fenggang Town Education Management Center told Nandu that on July 4, the town education management center received an application from the kindergarten to suspend school operations. After receiving the application, the center immediately set up an incident emergency response team to guide the kindergarten to carry out its work and reported to the relevant departments at the town and city levels for coordination and disposal. After verification, it was found that the school operating license of the kindergarten is valid until December 31, 2025, and the lease of the kindergarten building ends in November 2024. As of July 4, the kindergarten currently has 108 children in the kindergarten (including 18 in the senior class), no fees for the next semester have been collected, no new students have registered for the next semester, and there are 26 faculty and staff.

Fenggang Town Education Management Center mentioned that before receiving the application for suspension of the kindergarten, the kindergarten was operating normally and no abnormal situation was found. After consulting the organizer, it was learned that the kindergarten had a reduced number of students in recent years and the income was not enough to cover the expenses, so it decided to suspend the school. In the process of handling the matter, the education department assisted parents in obtaining information on the places in surrounding kindergartens, and coordinated with surrounding kindergartens to accept and divert students, and made good preparations for the admission of transfer students.

What is the current situation of student diversion? Fenggang Town Education Management Center stated that as of July 15, 18 senior class graduates of the kindergarten have registered for the first grade of primary school according to the enrollment policy; 53 middle and junior class students have registered for the kindergartens they intend to attend, and the remaining small number of students are considering or deciding to attend kindergarten. At present, there are sufficient places in private kindergartens around the kindergarten and in the town, which can fully meet the enrollment needs, and parents are now being guided to find places in an orderly manner.

Regarding the aftermath of the teachers and staff, the Fenggang Town Education Management Center said that it had worked with the human resources and social security department to guide the kindergarten to carry out the staff diversion work in accordance with the law. The kindergarten signed a labor contract termination agreement with 24 teachers and staff on July 12, and the relevant compensation of the 24 teachers and staff was paid in full on July 15, and the teachers and staff had no objection to this. Currently, there are still two teachers in the kindergarten to maintain their daily work.
