Recently, the 9th "Maker China" Guangdong Small and Medium Enterprises Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the 8th "Maker Guangdong" Competition jointly organized by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province and the People's Government of Zhuhai City were officially launched. According to reports, the competition is themed "Maker Guangdong, Craftsmanship in South Guangdong" and will be held in Zhuhai from July to September this year. Qualified enterprises and makers (referred to as "contestants") can register through the official website of the "Maker Guangdong" competition and sign up for the city competition or special competition.

Manufacturing is Guangdong's deep-rooted "family property" and a "weapon" for high-quality development. This competition aims to anchor the primary task of high-quality development, adhere to the manufacturing industry as the main force, accelerate the promotion of new industrialization, promote entrepreneurship, innovation and transformation and upgrading of small and medium-sized enterprises, and create a good atmosphere for mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

The competition has two groups: enterprise group and maker group. Focusing on cultivating and developing strategic pillar industry clusters and strategic emerging industry clusters, it has set up eight participating fields including new generation information technology (including new generation electronic information, software and information services), smart home appliances, new materials (including advanced materials, cutting-edge new materials), semiconductors and integrated circuits, intelligent manufacturing, robotics, biomedicine and health, and new energy.

In terms of the competition nodes, the competition is divided into preliminary rounds (city competitions, special competitions), semi-finals and finals. The preliminary rounds will be completed before the end of August and the semi-finals will be recommended. In early September, the organizing committee will review the recommended preliminary rounds and determine the list of finalists. After the semi-finals, the final will be staged in late September.

Among them, the prefecture-level competition is planned by the cities around the theme of the competition and the fields of competition; the special competition covers the subdivided industry fields of the competition, such as new generation information technology, smart home appliances, new materials, semiconductors and integrated circuits, smart manufacturing, robots, biomedicine and health, new energy, etc., as well as special competitions for digital transformation and overseas returnees. All the projects shortlisted for the semi-finals will be divided into groups according to 8 fields, and expert evaluation will be organized through on-site demonstrations and defense.

The final round will determine the "Top 16" and provide cash rewards, trophies and certificates of honor. Among them, the enterprise group will determine 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 5 third prizes, and the maker group will determine 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 3 third prizes. The first, second, and third prizes in the enterprise group will receive cash rewards of 400,000 yuan, 200,000 yuan, and 100,000 yuan respectively; the first, second, and third prizes in the maker group will receive cash rewards of 200,000 yuan, 100,000 yuan, and 50,000 yuan respectively.

As a "golden signboard" of Guangdong's industrial and technological innovation, the "Maker Guangdong" competition is one of the largest and highest-level "double innovation" events in Guangdong Province. It has attracted the participation of many companies, teams and universities, and has attracted a large amount of investment and financial support for participating companies, talent teams and high-quality projects, promoted the transformation of project results and the industrialization process, and made positive contributions to the innovation and entrepreneurship in Guangdong Province and even the whole country.

During this competition, the organizing committee will use the official platform of the competition to continue to follow up on the development of the participating projects and their docking needs, and provide follow-up services such as corresponding policy support, special training, industry docking, and investment and financing docking.

In terms of policy support, if the top 50 projects in the province are located in Guangdong and successfully obtain equity financing support within one year from the date of winning the award (based on the time and amount of bank deposit), the organizing committee will give a reward of no more than 10% of their financing amount, with a maximum of no more than 1 million yuan and can only be applied for once. All participants who enter the semi-finals will be given priority to participate in the application for provincial financial funds and relevant qualification certification of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology on the basis of meeting the policy conditions.

The Guangdong Branch of Bank of China will also design preferential credit plans for the winning projects in the preliminary round, the winning projects in the final, the top 100 projects and the projects that have landed in Guangdong and obtained equity financing. The maximum loan amount is 30 million yuan, the maximum loan term is 10 years, and all projects will enjoy preferential interest rates for inclusive loans. The top 100 projects in the provincial competition will be given priority to be recommended to well-known investment funds and venture capital institutions at home and abroad that cooperate with this competition to obtain investment support.

In addition, the organizing committee will organize online or offline training before, during and after the competition. Participants who have won the provincial top 100 and prefecture-level and special competitions can sign up for the "Maker Guangdong" leader training program, and will receive all-round training and guidance after being selected.
