IT Home reported on July 18 that RMS Titanic, Inc. announced this week that it will send two remotely operated submersibles (ROVs) to dive into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean to conduct a three-dimensional scan of the Titanic and take high-resolution images.

It is the first time a company has sent a submersible to explore the ancient shipwreck since OceanGate's Titan imploded last year, killing five wealthy tourists.

IT Home quoted media reports that RMS has formed a special team of 7 people to operate the remote-controlled submersible. We hope to study the changes in this ancient shipwreck after long-term immersion.

After the Titanic sank in 1912, there were no major problems with seawater erosion. The team hopes to compare the situation observed in 2010 to see if there are other changes worthy of attention, such as "new channels opening in the hull."

The RMS survey will also focus on the impact of the Titanic on surrounding marine life, and a plaque will be installed on the seafloor to commemorate Paul-Henri Nargeolet, the former head of research at Titanic, who died on board.

Nardolet was a French deep-sea explorer and Titanic expert known as "Mr Titanic" who died on June 18, 2023, while aboard the submersible Titan.
