First Descendants has been plagued by AFK issues since its launch in late June, and now developer Nexon is asking its community to stop doing it.

AFK isn't a problem unique to First Descendants, but it's particularly acute in the game, where players participate in quests and some simply sit back and let others do all the work, then reap the rewards, such as experience points, at the end.

In this game, AFK players will circle in place to avoid AFK detection. As players advance the mission, AFK players will be forced to teleport to the progress point. Even during the boss battle, they will continue to circle in place.

Nexon responded with a statement on social media: "If you need to step away for a while, please do so within Albion town!"

Here is the full statement:

Recently, we have received an increase in reports of inappropriate behavior in the game. While the development team is taking action, we would like to remind First Descendants players to abide by the following guidelines:

1. The use, distribution or creation of unauthorized programs is strictly prohibited.

2. Do not leave the keyboard during cooperative play. If you need to leave, be sure to do it in Albion town!

3. Please do not AFK during the mission.

We are always committed to creating a fun and enjoyable gaming environment for First Descendants players!

Please keep these rules in mind and help us build a better community together!

The statement is essentially a "please play nice" warning, but this only solves part of the problem. As a result, players are calling on Nexon to add proper anti-cheat measures and mechanisms to prevent AFK hanging. However, some people defend AFK hanging, insisting that they have had enough of the relentless grind of "First Descendants" and have lost interest in normal games.
