IT Home reported on July 16 that last month, there were reports that Sony might phase out the Xperia V series and only retain the Xperia 1 as its high-end smartphone product line. However, recent product information from a mobile phone case manufacturer seems to indicate that Sony's Xperia V series will continue to exist.

A German online retailer has listed the Spigen Rugged Armor phone case for the Xperia 5 VI. The accompanying pictures show the case worn on a body model that is suspected to be the Xperia 5 VI. The new phone has some subtle differences compared to the Xperia 5 V that was launched last year.

One difference worth noting is that the Xperia 5 VI has a larger camera flash than the Xperia 5 V. The spy photos also show a headphone jack on the top of the phone, a fingerprint sensor on the side, and a volume rocker, but no shutter button. The display size and aspect ratio of both phones appear to be the same.

IT Home noticed that last year's Xperia 5 V was released in September, and Sony still has plenty of time to warm up the Xperia 5 VI.
