[Global Times Comprehensive Report] Faced with the development opportunities of artificial intelligence, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that the "Hong Kong version of ChatGPT" will be promoted to all government departments within this year, and the ultimate goal is to open it to the whole of Hong Kong.

According to Hong Kong's Sing Tao Daily on the 14th, the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Sun Dong, said on the 13th that the development of artificial intelligence is a global trend and an area of competition among countries. The SAR government has attached great importance to the development of artificial intelligence in the past two years. The Innovation and Technology Bureau began trialing the "Hong Kong version of ChatGPT" named "Civil Servant Document Assistance System" last month to conduct data model training and feedback. The adaptation process is progressing smoothly and will be gradually expanded to other policy bureaus. "It will eventually be open to the entire Hong Kong society for use."

The "Hong Kong version of ChatGPT" was developed by the "Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center" (HKGAI) established under the InnoHK platform of the SAR government. HKGAI was established in October last year and is led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Polytechnic University, the City University of Singapore and the National University of Singapore are involved in the research. A total of 6 top Asian universities have jointly carried out research work. At present, 8 artificial intelligence research projects have been carried out, and basic models have been tailored for different fields such as law, medicine and creativity, which will serve Hong Kong and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Chiu Tat-kan, a member of the Technology Innovation Sector of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, said that due to regional differences, local governments have different considerations on how to handle data, and government documents involve a large number of confidential and confidential documents, so public safety and system security issues are both key issues. He believes that the "Civil Service Document Assistance System" developed by the SAR government's InnoHK Innovation Hong Kong R&D Platform is a good thing to be done early. He believes that the system will have enough time to be debugged and updated now that it is launched, and he also believes that the relevant departments will do a good job in keeping confidentiality and network security.
