On July 12, a reporter from Xiaoxiang Morning News contacted the relevant departments of Nanle County, Henan Province, where the boy's family lived. The staff said that the boy's name was Yuan Liushou. Since his parents died in 2017, the local government has begun to allow Shoushou to enjoy the "five guarantees" policy. Since December 2019, Shoushou has been hospitalized and received dialysis at Nanle County Central Hospital, with a total cost of about 300,000 yuan, and medical insurance reimbursed more than 280,000 yuan. The local town government and the Charity Federation have been helping Shoushou, and living allowances, clothes, shoes and other daily necessities will be issued according to the situation. The Nanle County Civil Affairs Bureau also raised funds and issued subsidies for Shoushou. Shoushou lives in Nanle County Zhongxing Hospital, and the hospital has specially arranged beds for him and his grandfather. For the past four years, their bed fees have been free.

On July 12, staff from relevant departments of Nanle County said that the local government has been providing support to Shoushou and actively connecting with major hospitals to find a suitable diagnosis and treatment plan. Shoushou is currently hospitalized in Zhengzhou for examination. "First, we need to see if his physical condition allows for a kidney transplant. We need to listen to the hospital's diagnosis first."
