The Yangtze Evening News/Ziniu News reporter contacted the two members and listened to their stories of setting up stalls to sell grilled sausages. Panda (pseudonym) said, "Graduation season is here, and we want to do something special to leave unforgettable memories. But as the number of times increases, we find that setting up stalls can not only relax and relieve stress, but also make many new friends."

I set up a stall to commemorate my graduation, but I didn't sell any.

Recently, a stall called "Zhongda Philosophy Maluo Sausage" has become popular around Sun Yat-sen University. Several guys set up a grill to sell volcanic stone sausages, and a promotional poster next to it reads "Zhongda Sausage, Academic Exchange, Philosophy Exchange".

The reporter of Yangtze Evening News/Ziniu News contacted the team member Panda, who is 29 years old and has just graduated with a master's degree from the Department of Philosophy of Sun Yat-sen University. He is currently engaged in philosophy postgraduate entrance examination tutoring with his friends. He told reporters that the team has a total of 9 people, including master's students who just graduated this year and doctoral students currently studying at Sun Yat-sen University and Capital Normal University.

Ziheng (pseudonym), 28, is a doctoral student in the Department of Philosophy at Sun Yat-sen University. He was the first to come up with the idea of setting up a stall to sell grilled sausages. "Panda is about to graduate, and we want to do something together to leave him with a special graduation memory."

When the stall was first opened, four boys came. After waiting for a long time, a customer finally came. However, when the customer was ready to pay, he did not see the payment code. Panda and others temporarily opened the WeChat payment code on their mobile phones, "The other party was very hesitant and left without buying anything in the end."

The result is predictable. They worked for 3 hours, grilled 20 sausages but didn't sell any. Ziheng said with a smile: "We ate some and gave some to the stall owner next to us." Panda said that they later reviewed the experience of setting up a stall for the first time, "Four tall and strong boys gathered together at night, others might be a little scared and dare not approach."

Business improved after the stall renovation

When they first set up a stall, they brought two tables, planning to put condiments on one table and a sausage grill on the other. The stall owner next to them saw this and suggested, "There's no need to make such a fuss. Just modify the electric bikes and put them on shelves." The owner also suggested that they make a price list, reduce the number of people at the stall, play some soothing music, and set up more stalls at the fixed stall.

They remodeled the stall according to the old man's suggestion, and they had business the second time they set up the stall. "After setting up the stall five or six times, we can sell 20 to 30 sausages every day." Many college students were very interested in them after hearing that they were master's and doctoral students majoring in philosophy at Sun Yat-sen University. They not only came to buy sausages, but also chatted with them.

Panda told the Yangtze Evening News/Ziniu News reporter that during the day, they are busy reading books, writing papers, and teaching students, all of which are mental work. After get off work, they just use the stall to do some physical work and relax in a different place. He smiled and said, "I used to have poor sleep, but now every time I come back from the stall, I fall asleep within 10 minutes after lying down."

Ziheng said that not only did he no longer feel anxious, he also made one or two new friends, including philosophy enthusiasts and students from other majors. He remembered the girl Xiao Wang (pseudonym) who came to buy sausages. She was a student majoring in ancient architectural cultural relics protection and was about to enter graduate school. "Xiao Wang had a gap with her parents and her family had experienced some changes, so she was a little anxious, but she didn't know how to talk to her friends." Ziheng gave Xiao Wang a lot of encouragement. This unintentional act made Xiao Wang feel very warm, and later she brought her friends to the stall to buy sausages.

Panda will graduate with a master's degree this year

Encourage more people to face life positively

There are many touching things in the process of setting up the stall. Late at night, when there are fewer customers, 50-year-old Sichuanese Lao Li (pseudonym) sells snacks from his hometown. He can sell 70 to 80 portions a day and earn 200 to 300 yuan. Because students are leaving school for the summer vacation, he plans to set up a stall in his hometown of Sichuan. After seeing Panda and others, Lao Li took the initiative to say hello to them: "I am going to buy a tricycle. I don't need the things I have now. If you think it is useful, take it."

The process of setting up stalls strengthened the friendship among the people. Ziheng told the reporter: "We understand each other's temperament better. Although there have been conflicts and unpleasant things in the past, we are now more willing to sit down and have in-depth exchanges. I wish the two graduates in the team a happy graduation and a bright future!"

Panda said that he likes to set up a stall to sell grilled sausages. "It is not necessary to have a high income to feel happy. Young people should have passion and they can be happy by doing small things."

Ziheng said that there are more and more regular customers and their enthusiasm is getting higher and higher. He hopes to develop the sausage stall into a street conversation, just like Socrates in ancient Greece, who can talk about various interesting philosophical topics in ordinary and flexible language on various occasions. "I hope to turn sausage into a medium. When a customer buys a sausage from us, we try to answer his philosophical question. We can become friends and do something together."
