According to Fast Technology on July 15, following Counterpoint Research, research firm IDC also released its smartphone shipment report for the second quarter of this year today, and the data from the two are generally consistent.

The IDC report shows that global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 6.5% year-on-year to 285.4 million units, but demand in many markets has not yet recovered.


In the ranking, Samsung and Apple continued to drive the high-end market, with shipments accounting for 18.9% (53.9 million units shipped, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%) and 15.8% (45.2 million units shipped, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%), ranking the top two respectively.

Xiaomi ranked among the top three, with a market share of 14.8%, shipments of 42.3 million units, a year-on-year increase of 27.4% (strong performance in China and emerging markets), making it the most outstanding Chinese mobile phone manufacturer.

Vivo and OPPO are also among the top five, with shipments of 25.9 million units (a year-on-year increase of 21.9%) and 25.8 million units (a year-on-year increase of 1.8%), and market shares of 9.1% and 9% respectively.
